Bowling Green Purple Striders 5K Run/Walk

Place: Bowling Green High School, 1801 Rockingham Lane, Bowling Green, Ky.
Date: Saturday, July 30th , 2011
Time: 6:30 AM – Registration (up until race time)
7:30 AM – 5K Run
8:00 AM – 2 mile walk (no jogging/running will be allowed)
8:30 AM – Awards
Entry Fee: $15.00 before July 24th
$18.00 Day of Race (Student/Cross Country runner $12)
Course: Flat and Fast road course. RRCA Certified #KY02001EM
Age Groups:
12 & Under 35-39
13-15 40-44
16-19 45-49
20-24 50-54
25-29 55-59
30-34 60 & Up
Awards: All preregistered entrants will receive a colorful short sleeve T-shirt. Extra T-shirts will be available on a first come, first-serve basis. Trophies will be given to the overall and master winners (both male and female) in the 5K run and to the winners of the 2 mile walk. Medals/awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group in the 5K run and to the top five finishers (male and female) in the 2 mile walk.

Note: The 2 mile walk will have the same start/finish
line as the 5K, but it will only include one loop. If you arrive after the 7:30
AM 5K start time, please use the first school driveway once you turn off Westen
onto Rockingham and come around behind the school building to avoid the race
course and blocked streets.
Support the Dedication of BGHS and BGJHS Cross Country

During the summer and fall of 2011, the Bowling Green Purple Striders Booster Club is trying to raise funds for event operations, race day T-shirts, and field equipment. We are soliciting support from individuals and businesses through advertisement on a fence park signs, signs staked in the ground, and t-shirt advertisement. Please consider sponsoring the BGHS and BGJHS Cross Country running teams with your support.
Fence park signs- This is one of our most popular and visibly supportive advertisements. These signs are approximately 5×6′ and can have any logo, artwork, or business card design printed on them. These hang on the baseball field’s fence facing the running track at Kereiakes Park where we host our home meets. Last year’s supporters are still there! If you choose to keep your sign hanging in support of our teams, the cost is only $100. Please consider having a sign advertisement made for $200 new. Last year’s signs have had a full year of advertisement to everyone who comes to play baseball, tennis, walk, run, or attend soccer practices.
Staked signs- New this year, we are offering “yard sale” sized signs that are staked in the ground near the pavilions at Kereiakes Park during our home meets. Again, we can use any artwork, logo, or business card design. The cost is $50.
Race T-shirt advertisement- We will host our annual Purple Striders Invitational on September 10th. You may choose to be a sponsor and have your name or business name, logo, or business card printed on the back. The cost is $50.
Package Deal #1- If you really want to show your support to all the kids who’ve run and practiced so hard all summer, you can choose to do all three for $250.
Package Deal #2- You may also choose a staked sign and t-shirt advertisement. The cost is $75

2011 KTCCCA Academic All State Track and Field

For an athlete to be nominated for academic honors for the 2011 season, they must meet two criteria.
1). They must qualify for the KY State Track Meet. This includes individual athletes on relays. This must be documented.
2.) They must meet academic criteria. For Academic All State the athlete must have a g.p.a. of 3.75 – 4.0. Academic All State Honorable Mention is 3.5 – 3.74. This may be for their last grading period or it may be cumulative. This also must be documented.
This is not an easy award to receive and we are very proud of everyone and your hard work. Way to go PURPLES!!

Summer Training Starts Monday, June 6th

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to remind everyone that summer training starts on June 6th at 7:30 AM at Kereiakes Park. We will hold practice M-W-F. Coach Hamilton will be under the Pavilion. We are extremely excited about starting this season off. We have a young and very talented team again this year. We are looking for a huge showing again this year at State!! I wanted to thank you all for the hard work that you have done to help build our program and keeping Bowling Green Cross Country a successful program!! With your hard work we are looking to add to our over crowded trophy case!!
