2015 Kentucky Dream Mile

Louisville, KY – On Friday, May 1, 2015 at 8:00 PM, St. Xavier High School will be hosting the 6th annual running of the Kentucky Dream Mile for Kentucky’s elite boys and girls high school (grades 9-12) distance runners.

The purpose of this event is to bring together, on one night and at one venue, the most elite high school milers from throughout the state, under the most optimal of conditions, at a time of the season to produce times worthy of national recognition.

The qualifying standards are high, but that is in the hopes of enabling the most talented Kentucky high school distance athletes to achieve, as a group, what many outside of Kentucky feel isn’t within our state’s level of ability to have several of our elite runners reach a national standard of excellence.

Two Purples made the qualifying time. Senior Kyle Johnson is a repeat Dream Mile Qualifier and the 2014 Class 3A Region 2 1600m runner up. His PR for the mile is 4:25 ran at the Dream Mile last year. Kyle will continue his running career at Lipscomb University in Nashville in the fall. Junior Brittney Hansen qualified for the Dream Mile in 2013 as a freshman. She is a 3 time Class 3A Region 2 Track and Field Champion and the current 2014 Region 2 XC Champion. Brittney placed 6th in the 800m at state last year while setting a school record running 2:20. Her PR in the mile is 5:16. Congratulations to both Kyle and Brittney on their achievement. We know you will run #PurpleFast. Thank you to Fred Dent for the use of his photos. We appreciate all that you do.
