BGJHS Tri-Meet Update
May 17th
Thursday, May 17, the Boys and Girls Track Teams hosted a Tri Meet at Bowling Green High School. Both teams placed first overall and many athletes ran their best times of the season.
In the Girls 100 meter dash Jasmine Varner finished second, Tyria Smart, 3rd;
Girls 200 meter dash—Rose Mary Jackson finished first, Jasmine Varner, 2nd;
Girls 400 meter dash—Rose Mary Jackson finished 2nd, Jasmine Varner, 3rd;
In the Girls 800 meter run—Chloe Games placed 2nd, Hannah Bain-Selbo, 3rd;
Girls 1600 meter run—Madisyn Peebles finished first, Hannah Bain-Selbo 2nd;
In the Girls hurdles Camille Smart placed 1st in both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles;
Rose Mary Jackson placed first in the girls high jump;
Katrina Hanson placed 2nd, and To’Nia Beavers placed third in both the shot put and Discus;
The 4×800 meter relay team of Madisyn Peeples, Sofía Alemán, Hannah Bain-Selbo and Chloe Games placed first.
And the 4×100 meter relay team of Tyria Smart, Jasmine Varner, Camille Smart and Rose Mary Jackson placed first with a time of 54.77, breaking the school record.
Great job, ladies!
In the boys 100 meter dash Jamale Carothers finished first;
Boys 200 meter dash—Tristen Murray finished 1st, Jamale Carothers second;
Boys 400 meter dash—Robbie Lofton finished 1st, Tristen Murray, 2nd;
Boys’ 800-meter dash—Trajon Hall placed 1st, Jack Atkerson 2nd;
Boys 1600-meter run, -Jack Atkerson 4th and Trajon Hall finished first with a time of 4:50, breaking the school record;
Boys 300 meter hurdles, Blake Cleary finished first, John Michael McCoy 3rd;
The 4×800 relay team of AJ McAllister, Chris Grinstead, Michael Spencer and Jack Atkerson finished first;
Boys shot put—Tyler Hughes placed 5th;Tyler also placed 3rd in the boys discus throw;
Blake Cleary got first in the long jump;
And for the boys high jump Tristen Murray placed first, Blake Cleary 2nd.
In the 100 meter hurdles, John Michael McCoy placed 3rd and Blake Cleary finished first with a time of 15.67, breaking the school record;
And also breaking a school record was Robbie Lofton with a triple jump of 35’ 3.5’’that won first place.
Awesome job to all athletes who participated in the meet and good luck to those who will be participating in the Middle School State Championship Meet this Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Lexington!
