Bowling Green Lightning 9th At Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional
Nov 25th
Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional “Bowling Green Lightning, another powerhouse out of Kentucky” always sounds great to hear your team name mentioned over the loud speaker when you are not running in your home state.
Congratulations to 8th grader Madisyn Peeples for running a PR (personal record) 18:06; not only breaking the old BGHS 5K school record held by Cara Nichols (18:16) in 1997, Madisyn finished the race in 16th place which earned her Nike Cross National Southeast 3rd team. Ciara Scott also ran a new PR with an 18:58 finishing in 47th place. Brittney Hansen ran 19:17 her second fastest time of the season finished in 78th place. Lauren Wheeler ran 19:21 only two seconds shy of her PR, finished in 84th place. Sarah-Emily ran 19:35 her third fastest time of the season, finished in 101st place. Last but not least Van Games ran a season best time of 20:28 finishing in 156th place. Awesome job girls!! The Southeast regional is one of the toughest regions in the nation. Top 10 team finishes are very well deserved.
